This Special Issue is about the Marcos authoritarian rule (1965-1986) and the martial law (1972-1981), one of the darkest periods of our history. Amidst distortions and dis/misinformation, this issue contributes to the growing literature on the Marcos dictatorship providing valuable insights into the dangers and consequences of authoritarianism. This knowledge can help us guard against a relapse into another authoritarian rule.
